This repository contains an demo for running a Docker with a mounted directory. It shows how Docker can access files and directories on the host operating system. Please note that this demo lacks many features critical for real-world software development (e.g. documentation, R package version control, unit testing, and automatic scaling).
To run the demo, please install the Docker Engine (see here for instructions). After completing this step, you can install the application from the DockerHub repository. Specifically, please use the following system command:
docker run \
--tty \
--interactive \
--volume "$(pwd)":/mnt \
--name docker-mount-demo \
naturecons/docker-mount-demo:latest
You should now see the contents of the working directory displayed in the terminal. If you wish to try mounting a different directory, please replace "$(pwd)" with a different directory path in the command above (e.g. /mount/linuxwinshare/shared/test).
After you have finished using the application, you can terminate it using the following system command. Note that if you don’t terminate the application once you are finished using it, then it will continue running in the background.
docker rm -f docker-mount-demo
