⁠FOR USE IN ARGON/APPTAINER

  1. Run the following bash script once in the Argon terminal:
# download and compile non-setuid installation script
curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/apptainer/apptainer/main/tools/install-unprivileged.sh | \
     bash -s - INSTALL_DIR

# change directory to non-setuid apptainer 
cd ~/INSTALL_DIR/bin/

# rename non-setuid apptainer file to avoid naming conflicts 
mv apptainer modtainer

# Change file permissions to make the renamed Apptainer (modtainer) executable
chmod +x modtainer

# Add the directory containing modtainer to the PATH for the current session
export PATH="~/INSTALL_DIR/bin:$PATH"
  1. Run the following bash script once:
modtainer build --sandbox hpc.sif docker://ndep/bayes.r:latest
  1. a.) To load the apptainer with a read-only file system, execute:
apptainer run hpc.sif

OR

  1. b.) To load the apptainer AND mount its writable file system (i.e., to install R packages for future use), execute:
apptainer run --fakeroot --writable hpc.sif
