Overview

PodMeter UI provides an intuitive, real-time visualization dashboard that helps you compare performance
metrics between Istio's Sidecar and Ambient service mesh modes. Built with React 19, it displays side-by-side comparisons of latency, memory usage, throughput, and calculates performance improvements automatically.

Quick Start

docker run -d -p 3000:80 \
-e VITE_SIDECAR_BACKEND=http://your-sidecar-backend:8080⁠ \
-e VITE_AMBIENT_BACKEND=http://your-ambient-backend:8080⁠ \
--name podmeter-ui \
nyanlintun/podmeter-ui:latest

Access the dashboard at http://localhost:3000⁠

Prerequisites

This UI requires two separate instances of the https://github.com/nyan-lin-tun/PodMeter⁠ service:

• One with Istio sidecar injection enabled
• One with Istio ambient mode enabled

Both backends must expose a /stats endpoint returning performance metrics.
