Updated 2024-03-01 Due to something better coming along, please just use https://hub.docker.com/r/linuxserver/mediaelch⁠ instead of my docker image/s

The LinuxServer image is solid, and is regularly updated whenever the linuxserver team update their base images (including security updates), or whenever the mediaelch app is updated. The LinuxServer images can also be modded (see https://mods.linuxserver.io/⁠).

I am leaving my images up (for now) only for posterity/learning/interest.

Updated 2023-12-22 (App version 2.10.6 "Benzar", the latest at time of update. Grabbed latest Ubuntu base images from jlesage/baseimage-gui:ubuntu-18.04-v4 and jlesage/baseimage-gui:ubuntu-20.04-v4 for security updates)

Currently two images. "18.04" is much smaller than "latest"/"20.04" with similar functionality.

Based on https://hub.docker.com/r/masonxx/mediaelch⁠ and https://github.com/Giftie/docker-mediaelch⁠, but aims to shrink the image without reducing function. In both images/tags, I reduced size by running most Docker commands in one layer, thus reducing image layers, didn't do any "apt-get upgrade", did installs using "--no-install-recommends" and "apt-get purge(d)" stuff installed during the image build but no longer needed after installing mediaelch.

"latest" = identical to "20.04"

1. Using latest mediaelch version 2.10.6 "Benzar"
2. Using latest Ubuntu 20.04 base from https://hub.docker.com/r/jlesage/baseimage-gui:ubuntu-20.04-v4⁠
3. Much smaller image (219Mb) than "masonxx/mediaelch:latest" (273 Mb), but using newer Ubuntu build

"18.04"

1. Using latest mediaelch version 2.10.6 "Benzar"
2. Using latest Ubuntu 18.04 base from https://hub.docker.com/r/jlesage/baseimage-gui:ubuntu-18.04-v4⁠
3. Much smaller image (181 MB) than my "latest"/"20.04" (218 MB) and "masonxx/mediaelch:latest" (273 MB)

Run MediaElch with HTTP GUI (port 5800) or RDM (port 5900).

Usage

Containerised MediaElch and allow remote access through HTTP GUI. Connect to http://<docker_ip>:5800 to access mediaelch GUI Parameters

-p 5800:5800 -p 5900:5900 # the port(s)
-v /path/to/config/folder:/config/xdg/config/kvibes # Config folder
-v /path/to/movies_folder:/movies # your movies folder
-v /path/to/movies_folder:/shows # your tv-shows folder
-e PGID for GroupID # You can specify group PGID. Ensure data directories on the host are owned by the same group.
-e PUID for UserID # You can specify user PUID. Ensure data directories on the host are owned by the same user.

Run command

docker run -p 5800:5800 -p 5900:5900 -v /path/to/config/folder:/config/xdg/config/kvibes -v /path/to/movies_folder:/media/movies -e PGID=1000 -e PUID=1000 ozrygle/mediaelch:latest
