\nlightning-cli newaddr\n\n# Returns a transaction id \nbitcoin-cli sendtoaddress

\n```\n\n`lightningd` will register the funds once the transaction is confirmed.\n\nYou may need to generate a p2sh-segwit address if the faucet does not support bech32:\n\n```bash\n# Return a p2sh-segwit address\nlightning-cli newaddr p2sh-segwit\n```\n\nConfirm `lightningd` got funds by:\n\n```bash\n# Returns an array of on-chain funds.\nlightning-cli listfunds\n```\n\nOnce `lightningd` has funds, we can connect to a node and open a channel.\nLet's assume the **remote** node is accepting connections at ``\n(and optional ``, if not 9735) and has the node ID ``:\n\n```bash\nlightning-cli connect []\nlightning-cli fundchannel \n```\n\nThis opens a connection and, on top of that connection, then opens\na channel.\nThe funding transaction needs 3 confirmation in order for the channel to be usable, and 6 to be announced for others to use.\nYou can check the status of the channel using `lightning-cli listpeers`, which after 3 confirmations (1 on testnet) should say that `state` is `CHANNELD_NORMAL`; after 6 confirmations you can use `lightning-cli listchannels` to verify that the `public` field is now `true`.\n\n### Sending and Receiving Payments\n\nPayments in Lightning are invoice based.\nThe recipient creates an invoice with the expected `` in\nmillisatoshi (or `\"any\"` for a donation), a unique `` and a\n`` the payer will see:\n\n```bash\nlightning-cli invoice \n```\n\nThis returns some internal details, and a standard invoice string called `bolt11` (named after the [BOLT #11 lightning spec][BOLT11]).\n\n[BOLT11]: https://github.com/lightningnetwork/lightning-rfc/blob/master/11-payment-encoding.md\n\nThe sender can feed this `bolt11` string to the `decodepay` command to see what it is, and pay it simply using the `pay` command:\n\n```bash\nlightning-cli pay \n```\n\nNote that there are lower-level interfaces (and more options to these\ninterfaces) for more sophisticated use.\n\n## Configuration File\n\n`lightningd` can be configured either by passing options via the command line, or via a configuration file.\nCommand line options will always override the values in the configuration file.\n\nTo use a configuration file, create a file named `config` within your lightning directory\n(eg. `~/.lightning/config`). See `man -l doc/lightningd-config.5`.\n\n## Further information\n\n### Pruning\n\nc-lightning requires JSON-RPC access to a fully synchronized `bitcoind` in order to synchronize with the Bitcoin network.\nAccess to ZeroMQ is not required and `bitcoind` does not need to be run with `txindex` like other implementations.\nThe lightning daemon will poll `bitcoind` for new blocks that it hasn't processed yet, thus synchronizing itself with `bitcoind`.\nIf `bitcoind` prunes a block that c-lightning has not processed yet, e.g., c-lightning was not running for a prolonged period, then `bitcoind` will not be able to serve the missing blocks, hence c-lightning will not be able to synchronize anymore and will be stuck.\nIn order to avoid this situation you should be monitoring the gap between c-lightning's blockheight using `lightning-cli getinfo` and `bitcoind`'s blockheight using `bitcoin-cli getblockchaininfo`.\nIf the two blockheights drift apart it might be necessary to intervene.\n\n### Developers\n\nDevelopers wishing to contribute should start with the developer guide [here](doc/HACKING.md).\nYou should also configure with `--enable-developer` to get additional checks and options.\n\n[blockstream-store-blog]: https://blockstream.com/2018/01/16/en-lightning-charge/\n[std]: https://github.com/lightningnetwork/lightning-rfc\n[travis-ci]: https://travis-ci.org/ElementsProject/lightning.svg?branch=master\n[travis-ci-link]: https://travis-ci.org/ElementsProject/lightning\n[prs]: https://img.shields.io/badge/PRs-welcome-brightgreen.svg?style=flat\n[prs-link]: http://makeapullrequest.com\n[IRC]: https://img.shields.io/badge/chat-on%20freenode-brightgreen.svg\n[IRC-link]: https://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=c-lightning\n[irc1]: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=%23lightning-dev\n[irc2]: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=%23c-lightning\n[ml1]: https://lists.ozlabs.org/listinfo/c-lightning\n[ml2]: https://lists.linuxfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/lightning-dev\n[docs]: https://lightning.readthedocs.org\n[ppa]: https://launchpad.net/~lightningnetwork/+archive/ubuntu/ppa\n[releases]: https://github.com/ElementsProject/lightning/releases\n[dockerhub]: https://hub.docker.com/r/elementsproject/lightningd/\n[jsonrpcspec]: https://www.jsonrpc.org/specification\n[helpme-github]: https://github.com/lightningd/plugins/tree/master/helpme\n","has_starred","hub_user","immutable_tags_settings",{"_76":11,"_77":78},"enabled","rules",[79],".*","is_automated","permissions",{"_83":22,"_84":11,"_85":11},"read","write","admin","user","storage_size",172360094,"orgData",{"_91":92,"_93":94,"_95":96,"_97":34,"_98":99,"_100":99,"_101":34,"_102":99,"_103":104,"_105":106,"_107":99,"_108":99,"_109":22},"id","b44093f760664cd197017abb1d69fc17","uuid","b44093f7-6066-4cd1-9701-7abb1d69fc17","type","organization","orgname","full_name","","location","company","profile_url","date_joined","2019-08-28T08:24:29.163564Z","gravatar_url","https://www.gravatar.com/avatar/7331279ddc91503a1f8e58dd3e4d90cc?s=80&r=g&d=mm","gravatar_email","badge","is_active","recentTags",[112],{"_113":45,"_114":115,"_116":117,"_91":118,"_119":120,"_51":137,"_138":115,"_139":34,"_140":57,"_58":141,"_142":143,"_144":128,"_145":137,"_146":67,"_147":22},"content_type","creator",7448753,"full_size",45786461,67381867,"images",[121],{"_122":123,"_124":125,"_126":99,"_127":128,"_129":130,"_131":132,"_133":99,"_134":-5,"_135":117,"_64":67,"_136":-5},"architecture","amd64","digest","sha256:2cb18f443db0df89fd905217416902e9aa76af5d8cb27d147b3e78f6c288c3d8","features","last_pulled","2026-10-28T09:01:25.163721119Z","last_pushed","2019-10-19T10:58:52Z","os","linux","os_features","os_version","size","variant","2019-10-19T10:58:51.569687Z","last_updater","last_updater_username","media_type","latest","repository",7627780,"tag_last_pulled","tag_last_pushed","tag_status","v2","sbxKitMetadata","isPotentialSpam","isHubSbxKitsEnabled","showSbxRunInCloud","showSbxLogoOverride","sbxTrademarkText","displaySecurityMetadata","tagAttestations","tagsHaveAttestations",[],"selectedTag","attestationsUrl","routes/_layout.r.$namespace.$reponame.tags",{"_39":162,"_169":170,"_156":179,"_180":11},{"_41":163,"_43":164,"_46":47,"_48":49,"_50":11,"_51":52,"_53":54,"_55":165,"_58":36,"_33":34,"_59":60,"_61":45,"_62":63,"_64":65,"_66":67,"_68":-5,"_69":63,"_70":71,"_72":11,"_73":34,"_74":166,"_80":11,"_81":168,"_86":34,"_87":88},[],[45],[57],{"_76":11,"_77":167},[79],{"_83":22,"_84":11,"_85":11},"tags",{"_171":65,"_172":-5,"_173":-5,"_174":175},"count","next","previous","results",[176],{"_113":45,"_114":115,"_116":117,"_91":118,"_119":177,"_51":137,"_138":115,"_139":34,"_140":57,"_58":141,"_142":143,"_144":128,"_145":137,"_146":67,"_147":22},[178],{"_122":123,"_124":125,"_126":99,"_127":128,"_129":130,"_131":132,"_133":99,"_134":-5,"_135":117,"_64":67,"_136":-5},[],"canDeleteTags","actionData","errors"]
