physino/gears repository overview

NOTE: This is replaced by https://hub.docker.com/r/physino/geant4

These images contain Geant4 libraries pre-compiled on amd64 Linux. GEARS, a tiny Geant4 application (341 kB) is included in the image to verify the contained Geant4 libraries. Geant4 datasets are not included in the container to reduce its size. Dockerfiles used to create these images can be found in https://github.com/jintonic/gears/tree/master/INSTALL/Docker.

Tags

  • physino/gears:latest contains Geant4.11.2.0
  • physino/gears:11.1.2 contains Geant4.11.1.2

Usage

  1. Download and run Docker Desktop.
  2. Download GEARS, and then
cd /path/to/gears
docker-compose run --rm gears
root@Geant4:~/gears $

where you can use geant4-config to list enabled Geant4 features:

root@Geant4:~/gears $ geant4-config --help
Usage: geant4-config [OPTION...]
--prefix output installation prefix of Geant4
  --version output version for Geant4
  --cxxstd                C++ Standard compiled against
--tls-model Thread Local Storage model used
  --libs output all linker flags
  --cflags output all preprocessor
                          and compiler flags

  --cflags-without-gui output preprocessor and compiler
                          flags without GUI components

--has-feature FEATURE output yes if FEATURE is supported,
                          or no if not supported

--datasets output dataset name, environment variable
and path, with one line per dataset

--check-datasets output dataset name, installation status and
expected installation location, with one line
                          per dataset

--install-datasets download and install any missing datasets,
requires a network connection and for the dataset
