poulti/ubuntu-with-utils repository overview

A simple container to experiment with common utilities:

• file and command line utils: apt-transport-https bash-completion p7zip-full nano less jq bc
• core/system tools: lsof lshw tree psmisc htop strace
• version control and dev related tools: git tig binutils acl pv
• network exploration tools: curl wget nmap tcpdump iputils-ping traceroute dnsutils
• network connections and routing tools: socat netcat-openbsd iproute2 iptables

⁠Usage

Deploy the container, eg. with a compose like

Note: the command tail -F /dev/null leave a command running forever, keeping the container up

  sandbox:
    image: poulti/ubuntu-with-utils
    command: tail -F /dev/null

Then access the container with (assuming sandbox-1 is the name of the container): sudo docker exec -it sandbox-1 bash
