proprodukt/pmboard repository overview

What is the Product Management Dashboard?

The Product Management Dashboard is the world's leading software for complete Agile Product Management. Fully agile product development starts with customer interviews and leads to agile strategies using the Agile Business Plan. Automatic prioritization of the requisition backlog helps with strategic product development. A successful go-to-market can be planned and created solely with the Product Management Dashboard as it leverages the results of the fact-based strategy. All tasks can be distributed within the team and the results can be merged.

Product Management sees it's tasks and all deadlines at a glance and can complete the tasks immediately using the integrated tools.

How to use this Image

Prerequisites

The product Management Dashboard uses the MySQL 8.0.x database. Assuming that you already have a database user with the name 'pmBoardUser', a script for setting up the related database could look like this:
create database pmBoardDb COLLATE utf8mb4_0900_ai_ci;

grant alter, create, create temporary tables, create view, delete, drop, event, execute, index, insert, lock tables, references, select, show view, trigger, update on pmBoardDb.* to pmBoardUser;

After the installation

In order to work with the Product Management Dashboard, you have to get a test license here. During the registration of a self hosted instance, you also will have to enter the unique server key. This key can be found in the interface of your installation if you click on the cog in the upper right corner and slelect the item "License". Just copy the server key on this page and use it during registration.

Start the Product Management Dashboard instance

To start a container with the Product Management dashboard you can modify the following command.
$ docker run --name pmBoard \
-v /my/local/folder:/dashboard/data/ \
-e INIT_USER_EMAIL=admin@your_company.net \
-e INIT_USER_PASSWORD=initialPassword \
-e MYSQL_HOST=host.docker.internal \
-e MYSQL_PORT=3306 \
-e MYSQL_DB=pmBoardDb \
-e DB_USERNAME=pmBoardUser \
-e DB_PASSWORD=pmBoardPassword \
-p8080:8080 -d proprodukt/pmboard:latest

You will now be able to open the app in the browser by entering http://localhost:8080, and log in with the user name admin@your_company.net and the password initialPassword (if you didn't change the related environment parameters). In this example we mapped the container folder '/dashboard/data/' to our local filesystem. In this folder the app stores the backups and attachments (in the subfolders 'backups' and 'attachments'). Make sure to set up the directory permissions correctly. Alternatively you could also remove this mapping and let Docker create a volume automatically. Please refer to this information about volumes in Docker. We also mapped the container port 8080, under which the app is accessible, to the local port 8080. Be aware that the app itself is only reachable via the 'http' protocol. In the following we will look at the available environment variables.

Environment Variables

The available variables can be split into 2 groups, the required variables, without which the app will not work, and the optional variables.
Required
INIT_USER_EMAIL
The email of the inital user of the app. This can be changed in the app afterwards.
INIT_USER_PASSWORD
The password of the inital user of the app. This also can be changed afterwards.
MYSQL_HOST
The hostname of the related MySQ!L server, e.g. 'my.database.server' or 'host.docker.internal'.
MYSQL_PORT
The port of the related MySQL server, normally 3306.
MYSQL_DB
The database for the app, see above.
DB_USERNAME
The name of the user that has access to the database on the related MySQL server.
DB_PASSWORD
The password of the user that has access to the database on the related MySQL server.
Optional
SERVER_CONTEXT_PATH
This params defines if the app runs under a context path on the server. If you would enter "pmBoard", the app would be accessible under "http://localhost:8080/pmBoard".
LANGUAGE
The language in which the Showcase is created and the default language for the init user. Values can be 'de' and 'en'. If nothing is entered, english is used as default.
BASE_URL
If you are running the app with an apache or nginx routing, it might be necessary to enter the define the URL that is exposed to the user, e.g. “https://www.yourcompany.com/pmboard”
JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS
Since the app is a Java program, you can pass some instructions to the container with this parameter, e.g. -Xmx2g
