proxylite/ndppd repository overview

RFC 4389 ND Proxy (ndppd) container for MikroTik RouterBOARD (aarch64) with link-layer (MAC) address change support.

In the MikroTik 7.20* update, NDProxy support was added, but only for each individual address. This is quite inconvenient if the network is configured using SLAAC. This container can respond to incoming Neighbor Solicitation (135) packets from the ISP with Neighbor Advertising (136) packets with the MAC address you specified (in the project variables) (that is, with the MAC address of your WAN). Please note: currently, only static mode is supported, meaning the container will respond to any packet if it matches within the prefix boundary.

Network setup:

  1. Create a new BRIDGE (e.g., br-wan ) if it hasn't already been created.
  2. Create a new VETH interface (e.g., veth1) and connect it to the container.
  3. Add your newly created VETH interface (veth1) and a WAN port (e.g., ether1) to the network bridge (br-wan). Note: do not specify any IP addresses in the VETH.

Container Environment Variables (Envs):

In Container (WinBox/HTTP), open the Environment Variables (Envs). Create the following variables:

  1. prefix64 - your /64 prefix assigned by your ISP, (e.g., 2a04:3800:0:2097::/64)
  2. mac - the MAC address of your WAN interface (ether1) (e.g., D4:01:C3:C8:77:7B)
  3. iface - specify your VETH (!) interface (e.g., veth1) that you plan to connect to the container.

Container settings:

Go to the Container menu and create a new container with the following parameters:

  1. Name (e.g., ndppd)
  2. Remote Image - proxylite/ndppd
  3. Root Dir - specify the path to an empty directory where the container will be installed (e.g., usb1-part1/ndppd)
  4. Interface - specify your VETH interface (e.g., veth1)
  5. Envlists - specify your list with the created parameters listed above (e.g., ndppd).
  6. Save the container (click OK)
  7. Wait a bit for the container to download and launch it with the Start button

After this, you can go to the Log and see the container successfully launched:

(notice) ndppd (NDP Proxy Daemon) version 0.2.5
(notice) Using configuration file '/etc/ndppd.conf'
(warning) Low prefix length (64 <= 120) when using the 'static' method
(info) Set default reply MAC=0:15:5d:70:af:1
(info) Set reply MAC=D4:01:C3:C8:77:7B
