This Docker image runs a script to start a Proxyrack Point of Presence (PoP) client, update it, and optionally add the device to your Proxyrack dashboard using provided environment variables. It includes retry logic to handle cases where the device isn't immediately recognized by the API.
The script checks for internet access, downloads and runs the latest Proxyrack client script, and attempts to add the device every 1 minute until successful (based on API response status).
/app/api.cfg) to prevent re-adding the device on subsequent runs.| Variable | Description | Required | Default Value |
|---|---|---|---|
UUID | Your unique device identifier for Proxyrack. | Yes | N/A |
API_KEY | Your Proxyrack API key for adding the device to the dashboard. | No | N/A (skips addition if unset) |
DEVICE_NAME | Optional name for the device in the dashboard. | No | Device-$UUID |
Pull the image from Docker Hub:
If you are using Mac OSX ARM (like M1 laptop) you will need to add this as an environment variable usually to your ~/.bash_profile
DOCKER_DEFAULT_PLATFORM=linux/amd64
You will also need to execute this manually in your terminal if you have only just added it now
1. First, Generate a Device ID You can run this command to generate a device ID that you will need to copy and save to use in the future
cat /dev/urandom | LC_ALL=C tr -dc 'A-F0-9' | dd bs=1 count=64 2>/dev/null && echo
Example output 393889FD3A7AB796A3846423B1AC3AD73100508ADD9375AA24489A1D7C6AD713
2. Download Proxyrack with the pull command:
sudo docker pull proxyrack/pop (it will only takes somes seconds)
3. Run Proxyrack, edit Insert your Device ID after UUID. You can use this example command:
docker run -d \
-e UUID=your_uuid_here \
-e API_KEY=your_api_key_here \
-e DEVICE_NAME=your_device_id_name_here \
proxyrack/pop:latest
That's it, all done!
