⁠PostgreSQL Image

⁠Usage

docker run[ -e POSTGRES_USER=<user>][ -e POSTGRES_PASSWORD=<password>][ -v <conf>:/conf][ -v <data>:/data][ -v <logs>:/logs][ -p <port>:5432] qasymphony/postgres:<version> [<command>]

⁠Description

A PostgreSQL image that provides automated setup of PostgreSQL which sets default postgres password to root and exposes port 5432. It also has an entrypoint.sh that does:

  1. Change configuration, data and log storages to /conf, /data and /logs respectively.
  2. Configure PostgreSQL instance on first run, including binding address and the default postgres password. User can change the default postgres password or creating new user by setting POSTGRES_USER and POSTGRES_PASSWORD.
  3. Start up PostgreSQL service and print logs to stdout.
⁠Volumes
  • /conf PostgreSQL configuration directory
  • /data data storage directory
  • /logs log directory
⁠Port
  • 5432 PostgreSQL service
⁠Environment Variables
  • POSTGRES_USER username that is able to login to PostgreSQL
  • POSTGRES_PASSWORD password for $POSTGRES_USER user, default to root

⁠Extra

  • The PostgreSQL installation is a standard one and can be used as a PostgreSQL client using the following command
    docker run qasymphony/postgres:<version> /bin/bash
