⁠RabbitMQ Image

⁠Usage

Because the way that RabbitMQ manage cluster, it's recommended to set the -h <host> option to a unique name for a node. It will be used for the other nodes to connect to the cluster.

docker run[ -p <port>:<port>...][ -v <volume>:<volume>...][ -e <env>=<env>...][ -h <host>] qasymphony/rabbitmq:<version>

⁠Description

A RabbitMQ image that can run in cluster mode.

⁠Volumes
  • /conf configuration file storage. This could be shared across a cluster.
  • /data data storage. RabbitMQ will have different storage for each node name, so this could be shared only if each node in a cluster has different name.
  • /logs log storage. Just as /data, this volume can only be shared if each node in a cluster has different name.
  • /root this volume is to share .erlang.cookie file. This can be ignored if the cookie is passed through environment variable.

  • 4369 epmd
  • 25672 Erlang distribution
  • 5672 AMQP 0-9-1 without TLS
  • 5671 AMQP 0-9-1 with TLS
  • 15672 if management plugin is enabled
  • 61613 if STOMP is enabled
  • 61614 if STOMP is enabled
  • 1883 if MQTT is enabled
  • 8883 if MQTT is enabled
⁠Environment Variables
  • RABBITMQ_NODENAME the name of the RabbitMQ node, default to $HOSTNAME
  • RABBITMQ_COOKIE this will be the value of .erlang.cookie. This could be any string. If not specified, RabbitMQ will generate a random one.
  • RABBITMQ_PLUGINS specify plugins for RabbitMQ node, default to [rabbitmq_management_visualiser,rabbitmq_stomp]..
  • RABBITMQ_CLUSTER_HOST define this for RabbitMQ to join a cluster. The host must be in /etc/hosts file with support of Docker container linking --link option and -h option. The host name must be the same with the /etc/hostname in the host machine.
  • RABBITMQ_CLUSTER_NODENAME The value of this one must be the RABBITMQ_NODENAME of the host, default to rabbit.
  • RABBITMQ_HOME internal use only and should not be changed. This is the installation location of RabbitMQ binary. The default value is /usr/local/rabbitmq

⁠Extra

  • The image will run rabbitmq_server by default and log the output to stdout.
  • We can run another command by specify an executables as
    docker run qasymphony/rabbitmq:<version> /bin/bash
