qmrlab/mcrgui repository overview

Use qMRLab GUI via Docker

  1. Pull the image:
docker pull qmrlab/mcrgui

You can pull the desired version using tags. To see available tags please click here.

The image contains MATLAB compile runtime, therefore will expand to ~5.1GB after pulling.

  1. Start a container by sharing your host x11 socket to enable GUI interactions. Necessary steps depend on the operation system on which Docker is running.

  • Ubuntu
docker run -ti --rm \
       -e DISPLAY=$DISPLAY \
       -v /tmp/.X11-unix:/tmp/.X11-unix \
       qmrlab/mcrgui

If you run into an issue with x11 socket permissions, run xhost + on your local machine and try running the container again.

  • OSX

In OSX, x11 socket forwarding is a bit more uphill. There is a useful blog post on Medium, which constitutes the basis of instructions given below.

  1. You need to install XQuartz X11 server.
  2. Check ‘Allow connections from network clientsoption inXQuartz` settings.
  3. Quit and restart XQuartz.

Make sure that you have pulled qmrlab/mcrgui, open a terminal and run the following:

xhost + 127.0.0.1
docker run -e DISPLAY=host.docker.internal:0 qmrlab/mcrgui

  • WINDOWS

Please see this blog posts explaining how to forward x11 port to a running container on a Windows local machine.

If you run into an issue, please open a pull request on our GitHub repo.
