razorcat/tessy repository overview

Running Headless TESSY Tests in docker

Assume you have a script executeTestAndReport.sh which runs TESSY tests with the headless TESSYD application.
You can run it on Windows with Docker Desktop by calling:

docker run -t -e RAZORCAT_FLS_HOST=fls.license.server.name -v "%CD%:/work/" -w /work razorcat/tessy:latest ./executeTestAndReport.sh

The requirement is that you start a local FLS server instance on the Windows Docker host. If you have access to an FLS server in your company network, you can provide the host's name via the environment variable -e RAZORCAT_FLS_HOST=fls.license.server.name .

On Linux, the call would be:

docker run -t -e LOCAL_USER_ID=$(id -u) -v "$(pwd):/work/" -w /work -e  RAZORCAT_FLS_HOST=fls.license.server.name razorcat/tessy:latest ./executeTestAndReport.sh

Here, you must provide the local user id LOCAL_USER_ID=$(id -u) otherwise, the non-root user tessy inside your container will not have access to the TESSY project mounted in the container.

Explanation of parameters
  • -t allocates a pseudo-TTY and allows tessycmd to show progress bars on the console
  • -v "%CD%:/work/" mounts the current directory in the container at the path /work/. Windows variant
  • -v "$(pwd):/work/" mounts the current directory in the container at the path /work/. Unix variant
  • -e LOCAL_USER_ID=$(id -u) environment variable LOCAL_USER_ID used by the docker containers user tessy. In this way, the created files are readable by the user on the docker host
  • -w /work defines the current working directory
  • ./executeTestAndReport.sh the command which is called inside the container

The elevator controller example

The elevator controller example can be found at https://github.com/razordevel/elevator/tree/master/controller it provides a simple project for demonstration and can be used to test your license server setup.

TAG Strategy

Tags with version numbers like 5.0.3

Tags of this form will be updated occasionally with distribution updates or fixes in our docker environment. For example, we added the dump-init tooling to support Gitlab agents.

Tags with a date like 5.0.4_2023-10-26

It will not change.

Linux Distribution

For default distribution, we use the following mapping:

  • 5.0.x -> Ubuntu 20.04
  • 5.1.x -> Ubuntu 22.04

Furthermore, we add the Ubuntu version code name to images, i.e. 5.0.4_jammy_2023-10-30.
