⁠LSEG Real-Time Advanced News Server - Docker Hub Quick Start

Note: For a detailed guide, please follow the LSEG_Real_Time_Advanced_News_Server_Docker.pdf document provided in the Release Package. This Quick Start is only provided here as a handy reference. It uses suitable defaults and is meant for those already familiar with the ANS setup.
The Release Package on CZ contains utility / wrapper scripts which execute similar steps but with additional checks and in a more accessible manner.

Prerequisites:

1. A valid ANS-License file
2. AN Configuration files (ans.conf, ans-dacs.conf, ans-migration.conf (*) and optionally JMX Security configuration files) with configuration modified for the system / environment.
   (*) Note: Not applicable for ANS version 3.6.0.L1 or later
3. Access to the 2 ANS WAR Files - viz. ans-web.war and ans-ws.war
4. User "radmin" (id=971) belonging to group "radmin" (id=970) If these are not present, please execute the following first:

groupadd -g 970 radmin
useradd -u 971 -g 970 radmin

Note: The prerequisite artifacts (#2, #3) can be downloaded from CZ (https://my.refinitiv.com/content/mytr/en/helpandsupport.html⁠⁠). Please select the "MDS -Value Added" Product and choose the LSEG Real-Time Advanced News Server - Containerized variant for the release version matching the image tag.

Steps:

1. Setup the following environment variable - using a folder where the ANS volumes will be created on the host system.

export ANS_VOLUMES_HOME=<location for ANS volumes>

Note: The host folders for the volumes will be created inside a "volumes" sub-folder inside the folder configured above (See Step #2 below).

1. Create the necessary volumes:

        docker volume create --name ans_${v}_vol -o type=none -o device="${ANS_VOLUMES_HOME}/volumes/ans_${v}_vol" -o o=bind; \

chown -R radmin:radmin "${ANS_VOLUMES_HOME}/volumes"

1. Place a valid ANS License file (refer Prerequisites #1) in "${ANS_VOLUMES_HOME}/volumes/ans_license_vol/"
   Ensure that the file is owned by "radmin:radmin".

2. Place ANS Configuration files (refer Prerequisites #2) in "${ANS_VOLUMES_HOME}/volumes/ans_config_vol/"
   Ensure that the files are owned by "radmin:radmin".

3. Pull the image from Docker Hub:

docker pull refinitivrealtime/ans:<tag>
where <tag> is the intended version of ANS.

1. Run the container:

docker run -d --rm -h ans --name=ans \
        -v ans_config_vol:/reuters/ans/config \
        -v ans_data_vol:/reuters/ans/data \
        -v ans_etc_vol:/reuters/ans/etc \
        -v ans_export_vol:/reuters/ans/export \
        -v ans_license_vol:/reuters/ans/license \
        -v ans_logs_vol:/reuters/ans/logs \
        --net host \
        refinitivrealtime/ans:<tag>

where <tag> is the intended version of ANS.

1. Run the "ans-web" and "ans-ws" Web Applications (refer Prerequisites #4) on the host system using one of the supported Java Application Servers (e.g. Tomcat)
