⁠RDMS Advanced News - Docker Hub Quick Start

Note: For a detailed guide, please follow the "Refinitiv_Data_Management_System_Advanced_News_Docker.pdf" document provided in the Release Package. This Quick Start is only provided here as a handy reference. It uses suitable defaults and is meant for those already familiar with the RDMS-AN setup.
The Release Package on CZ contains utility / wrapper scripts which execute similar steps but with additional checks and in a more accessible manner.

Prerequisites:

1. A valid RDMS-AN-License file
2. RDMS-AN Configuration files (rdms-an.conf, rdms-an-dacs.conf, rdms-an-migration.conf (*) and optionally JMX Security configuration files) with configuration modified for the system / environment.
   (*) Note: Not applicable for RDMS-AN version 3.4.0.L1 or later
3. Access to the 2 RDMS-AN WAR Files - viz. rdms-an-web.war and rdms-an-ws.war
4. User "radmin" (id=971) belonging to group "radmin" (id=970) If these are not present, please execute the following first:

groupadd -g 970 radmin
useradd -u 971 -g 970 radmin

Note: The prerequisite artifacts (#2, #3) can be downloaded from CZ (https://my.refinitiv.com/content/mytr/en/helpandsupport.html⁠). Please select the "MDS -Value Added" Product and choose the RDMS Advanced News - Containerized variant for the release version matching the image tag.

Steps:

1. Setup the following environment variable - using a folder where the RDMS-AN volumes will be created on the host system.

export RDMS_AN_VOLUMES_HOME=<location for RDMS-AN volumes>

Note: The host folders for the volumes will be created inside a "volumes" sub-folder inside the folder configured above (See Step #2 below).

1. Create the necessary volumes:

chown -R radmin:radmin "${RDMS_AN_VOLUMES_HOME}/volumes"

1. Place a valid RDMS-AN License file (refer Prerequisites #1) in "${RDMS_AN_VOLUMES_HOME}/volumes/rdms-an_license_vol/"
   Ensure that the file is owned by "radmin:radmin".

2. Place RDMS-AN Configuration files (refer Prerequisites #2) in "${RDMS_AN_VOLUMES_HOME}/volumes/rdms-an_config_vol/"
   Ensure that the files are owned by "radmin:radmin".

3. Pull the image from Docker Hub:

docker pull refinitivrealtime/rdms-an:<tag>

where <tag> is the intended version of RDMS-AN.

1. Run the container:

docker run -d --rm -h rdms-an --name=rdms-an \
        -v rdms-an_config_vol:/reuters/rdms-an/config \
        -v rdms-an_data_vol:/reuters/rdms-an/data \
        -v rdms-an_etc_vol:/reuters/rdms-an/etc \
        -v rdms-an_export_vol:/reuters/rdms-an/export \
        -v rdms-an_license_vol:/reuters/rdms-an/license \
        -v rdms-an_logs_vol:/reuters/rdms-an/logs \
        --net host \
        refinitivrealtime/rdms-an:<tag>

where <tag> is the intended version of RDMS-AN.

1. Run the "rdms-an-web" and "rdms-an-ws" Web Applications (refer Prerequisites #4) on the host system using one of the supported Java Application Servers (e.g. Tomcat)
