mc rebuild — unofficial archival imageArchived, unsupported rebuild. Not an official MinIO image. This image contains an old MinIO Client release. It receives no upstream security updates and is not recommended for new production use. Use it only when you understand and accept the risks of running this historical version.
This is a Retengr-built container of the upstream MinIO Client (mc) source release RELEASE.2024-11-21T17-21-54Z. The build checks the exact upstream commit before compiling. It was created to keep existing bucket-initialization jobs working after the upstream client image could no longer be pulled; it is not a maintained client distribution.

MinIO's open-source products reached end of life in September 2025 and are no longer maintained by the upstream project. See the MinIO Legal Center and the archived mc repository.
Use an explicit tag or digest; there is no latest tag.
docker pull --platform linux/amd64 retengr/mc-rebuild:RELEASE.2024-11-21T17-21-54Z
docker run --rm --platform linux/amd64 \
retengr/mc-rebuild:RELEASE.2024-11-21T17-21-54Z --version
The image entrypoint is /usr/bin/mc. To use a host mc configuration that already contains an alias, mount it read-only at the configured path:
docker run --rm --platform linux/amd64 \
-v "$HOME/.mc:/tmp/.mc:ro" \
retengr/mc-rebuild:RELEASE.2024-11-21T17-21-54Z \
ls my-alias/my-bucket
Do not put real access keys in a public README or in shell commands that may be retained in history. Compatibility depends on the S3 operations and target server you use; this historical client is not a guarantee of compatibility with every S3 implementation.
The Dockerfile below fetches the pinned upstream tag and refuses to build if its commit does not match the expected revision. It cross-compiles for the requested target architecture.
To inspect the exact upstream source revision yourself, clone the release tag and check its commit:
git clone --depth 1 --branch RELEASE.2024-11-21T17-21-54Z \
https://github.com/minio/mc.git mc-src
git -C mc-src rev-parse HEAD
The Docker build performs this clone and commit check automatically; the manual clone is only for inspection. The Dockerfile is self-contained and does not use mc-src as its build context.
Save the Dockerfile below as Dockerfile, then run:
docker buildx build --platform linux/amd64 \
--tag local/mc-rebuild:RELEASE.2024-11-21T17-21-54Z \
--load .
The Retengr build.sh wrapper publishes to Retengr's private ECR repository and depends on its Terraform outputs and AWS credentials. It is not required to build this image; the command above builds it locally.
