retengr/minio-rebuild repository overview

Retengr MinIO rebuild — unofficial archival image

Archived, unsupported rebuild. Not an official MinIO image. This image contains an old MinIO Community Server release. It receives no upstream security updates and is not recommended for new production deployments. Use it only when you understand and accept the risks of running this historical version.

This is a Retengr-built container of the upstream MinIO source release RELEASE.2024-12-18T13-15-44Z. The build checks the exact upstream commit before compiling. It was created as a recovery image for an existing deployment after the upstream image could no longer be pulled; it is not a maintained MinIO distribution.

Pull and verify

Use an explicit tag or digest; there is no latest tag.

docker pull --platform linux/amd64 retengr/minio-rebuild:RELEASE.2024-12-18T13-15-44Z
docker run --rm --platform linux/amd64 \
  retengr/minio-rebuild:RELEASE.2024-12-18T13-15-44Z --version

For a legacy test deployment only, the container uses the upstream entrypoint, stores data under /data, and serves the S3 API on port 9000. Persist /data, provide strong credentials through your secret-management system, and do not expose an old, unsupported storage service directly to the Internet.

Rebuild from source

The Dockerfile below fetches the pinned upstream tag and refuses to build if its commit does not match the expected revision. It cross-compiles for the requested target architecture and keeps the Go toolchain out of the final image.

To inspect the exact upstream source revision yourself, clone the release tag and check its commit:

git clone --depth 1 --branch RELEASE.2024-12-18T13-15-44Z \
  https://github.com/minio/minio.git minio-src
git -C minio-src rev-parse HEAD

The Docker build performs this clone and commit check automatically; the manual clone is only for inspection. The Dockerfile is self-contained and does not use minio-src as its build context.

Save the Dockerfile below as Dockerfile, then run:

docker buildx build --platform linux/amd64 \
  --tag local/minio-rebuild:RELEASE.2024-12-18T13-15-44Z \
  --load .

The Retengr build.sh wrapper publishes to Retengr's private ECR repository and depends on its Terraform outputs and AWS credentials. It is not required to build this image; the command above builds it locally.
