⁠chromium-cdp

Minimal Chromium CDP base image for Playwright debugging.

This image is intended for frontend development and browser automation workflows that need a lightweight Chromium container with a stable Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP) endpoint.

⁠What It Is For

• Running Chromium in Docker for Playwright connectOverCDP
• Capturing screenshots of Chinese web pages without missing glyphs
• Inspecting DOM, cookies, local storage, network requests, and runtime state
• Reusing one browser image across multiple local projects

⁠Available Tags

• latest Default recommended tag. Currently points to the min variant.
• min Minimal Chinese font setup. Best default for most Simplified Chinese pages.
• full Larger image with broader CJK coverage.
• full-emoji full plus emoji font support.
• Versioned tags such as 0.1.0-min, 0.1.0-full, 0.1.0-full-emoji Use these when you want reproducible builds.

⁠Quick Start

Pull the default variant:

docker pull ricsy/chromium-cdp:latest

Run a CDP endpoint on port 9222:

docker run --rm \
  -p 9222:9222 \
  --add-host=host.docker.internal:host-gateway \
  --ipc=host \
  ricsy/chromium-cdp:latest

Notes:

• --ipc=host is recommended for Chromium stability.
• host.docker.internal is useful when your frontend dev server runs on the host machine.
• The image is intended for debugging and development workflows, not for general desktop browsing.

⁠Variant Guide

Choose min when:

• You mainly debug Simplified Chinese pages
• You want the smallest practical image
• You do not need emoji rendering

Choose full when:

• You need broader Chinese, Japanese, and Korean font coverage
• You can accept a larger image

Choose full-emoji when:

• Your screenshots or UI tests need emoji rendering
• You want maximum text compatibility over image size

⁠Build Arguments Used By This Image

• CHINESE_FONT_PROFILE=min|full
• INSTALL_EMOJI_FONT=true|false
• DEBIAN_MIRROR
• DEBIAN_SECURITY_MIRROR

These arguments are mainly relevant if you rebuild or fork this image.
