romanvaxman/bananana-brain repository overview

bananana brain

Your own control room for servers, Macs and PCs, from bananana.dev (built by CTF Designs, LLC). The brain keeps your machines' live readings, alerts, automations, files, terminals and history on your own hardware, and you reach it from anywhere at your-name.bananana.dev and in the bananana.dev apps for iPhone and Android. It connects out through an end-to-end encrypted relay: no ports to open, no VPN.

Run it

  1. Create a free account at https://bananana.dev/start and copy the setup token (it starts with bst_). It's only used on the first start.
  2. Start the brain:
docker run -d --name bananana --restart unless-stopped -v bananana:/data -e BANANANA_SETUP_TOKEN=bst_… romanvaxman/bananana-brain

Or with Compose: https://bananana.dev/compose.yaml. docker logs bananana shows your brain's address once it's connected. Then add your other machines from its Nodes page.

  • Data: everything is in /data (identity, settings, users, history). Back it up. A nightly backup goes to /data/backups, or to /backups if you mount a folder there.
  • Updating: docker pull romanvaxman/bananana-brain, then start the container again with the same volume.
  • Unraid: install bananana-brain from Community Applications.
  • TrueNAS, Synology, QNAP and more: https://bananana.dev/help/docker

Tags: latest, a date version (2026.11.2) and the release's commit. Images for linux/amd64 and linux/arm64.
