\n This repository provides a safe container image for the Arma Reforger game server. \n It is designed to be used with Docker Compose, making it easy to set up and manage your game server environment.\n

\n\n## Requirements\n\n* [Docker](https://docs.docker.com/engine/install/)\n* [Docker Compose](https://docs.docker.com/compose/install/standalone/)\n* 6GB RAM\n* 4 Core CPU\n\n## Quick Start\n\n```bash\ngit clone https://github.com/RouHim/arma-reforger-container-image.git\ncd arma-reforger-container-image\nmkdir -p config/ data/ profiles/ mods/\nchmod -R 777 config/ data/ mods/ profiles/\ncp example.config.json config/config.json # Adjust the config file as needed\ndocker compose pull\ndocker compose up -d\n```\n\n## Installation\n\nOnce _Docker_ and _Docker Compose_ are installed, clone this repository to your local machine:\n\n```bash\ngit clone https://github.com/RouHim/arma-reforger-container-image.git\ncd arma-reforger-container-image\n```\n\nBefore starting the server, create the required folder structure, and adjust the permissions:\n\n```bash\nmkdir -p config/ data/ mods/ profiles/\nchmod -R 777 config/ data/ mods/ profiles/\n```\n\n> The `chmod` command is recommended to avoid permission issues.\n> The main reason is, that the user in the container, most likely differs from the user on the host.\n\nThe folders are listed above, and their purpose is as follows:\n\n* `config`: Contains the server configuration files.\n* `data`: Contains the game server data which is downloaded from Steam.\n* `mods`: Contains the downloaded mods for the game server.\n* `profiles`: Contains the server profiles.\n\n## Configuration\n\nThe server is configured using a json file, located in the config folder and by using environment variables.\n\n## Config File\n\nThe default configuration file to be used is called `config/config.json`.\nAn example configuration file is provided in the repository.\n\nSo the first thing you need to do is to copy the example configuration file to `config/config.json`:\n\n```bash\ncp example.config.json config/config.json\n```\n\nThe full documentation for the configuration values can be\nfound [here](https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_Reforger:Server_Config).\n\n## Environment Variables\n\nAll environment variables are optional and can be set in the `docker-compose.yml` file.\n\n| Environment Variable | Description | Default Value | Example Value |\n|---------------------------|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|-------------------|---------------|\n| `MAX_FPS` | The [max server FPS](https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_Reforger:Startup_Parameters#maxFPS) | `60` | `120` |\n| `ADDITIONAL_STARTUP_ARGS` | Used to pass additional startup parameters to the server. Check this [link](https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_Reforger:Startup_Parameters) for a list of available startup parameters. | `` (empty string) | `-nds 1` |\n| `FAST_BOOT` | If set to `true`, the server will skip update and validation of the server files on every boot. | `false` | `true` |\n| `STEAM_USERNAME` | Steam account username (empty = use anonymous login) | `` (empty string) | `myuser` |\n| `STEAM_PASSWORD` | Steam account password (required if `STEAM_USERNAME` is set) | `` (empty string) | `mypassword` |\n| `STEAM_GUARD_CODE` | Steam Guard 2FA code (optional; if set, passed to SteamCMD login) | `` (empty string) | `ABC12` |\n\n## Authentication\n\nBy default this image uses `login anonymous` when running SteamCMD.\n\nSome dedicated servers (or private/beta branches) require an authenticated Steam account to download. In that case set:\n\n- `STEAM_USERNAME`\n- `STEAM_PASSWORD`\n\nIf Steam Guard (2FA) is enabled for the account, set `STEAM_GUARD_CODE` at container start.\n\nNotes:\n- Steam Guard codes expire quickly (typically ~30 seconds). If the container is restarted, you may need to provide a new code.\n- Credentials passed via environment variables can be visible via `docker inspect` and similar tooling. Prefer Docker/Kubernetes secrets for production, and avoid baking credentials into images.\n- SteamCMD script parsing is whitespace-based; usernames/passwords containing spaces may not work reliably.\n\n## Usage\n\nTo start the Arma Reforger server, navigate to the cloned repository's directory and use Docker Compose:\n\n ```bash\n docker compose pull\n docker compose up -d\n```\n\nThis will pull the latest image and start the server in detached mode.\n\nWhen starting the server for the first time:\n\n* The server will download the latest version of the game from Steam to the `data/` folder.\n* All mods configured in the `config/config.json` file will be downloaded to the `mods/` folder.\n\nTo restart the server after making changes to the configuration, use the following command:\n\n```bash\ndocker compose restart\n```\n\nTo check the server logs, use the following command:\n\n```bash\ndocker compose logs -f\n```\n\n## Update\n\nTo update the server, just restart the container.\nThe server checks for updates and validates on every boot per default.\n\n> To skip update and validation of the server files on every boot,\n> set the `FAST_BOOT` env variable to `true`.\n\n# Resources\n\n- SteamDB: https://steamdb.info/app/1874900/\n- Config File: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_Reforger:Server_Config\n- Guide: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_Reforger:Server_Hosting\n- Startup Parameter: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_Reforger:Startup_Parameters\n- Built from: https://github.com/RouHim/arma-reforger-container-image\n- Built to: https://hub.docker.com/r/rouhim/arma-reforger-server\n","has_starred","hub_user","immutable_tags_settings",{"_75":11,"_76":77},"enabled","rules",[78],".*","is_automated","permissions",{"_82":21,"_83":11,"_84":11},"read","write","admin","user","storage_size",5845614470,"orgData","recentTags",[91],{"_92":44,"_93":94,"_95":96,"_97":98,"_99":100,"_101":102,"_50":118,"_119":94,"_120":33,"_121":56,"_57":122,"_123":124,"_125":126,"_127":118,"_128":66,"_129":21},"content_type","creator",1946399,"digest","sha256:6464acf19a0ea428033d88761970a19f701901a47b7102aaf75bb106bb7560fa","full_size",114098258,"id",877667501,"images",[103],{"_104":105,"_95":106,"_107":48,"_108":109,"_110":111,"_112":113,"_114":48,"_115":-5,"_116":98,"_63":66,"_117":-5},"architecture","amd64","sha256:8f2f105af255c6018700f40902eecfb0722a01cf1d4d2aeef59847272e26462f","features","last_pulled","2026-10-07T05:37:59.774442353Z","last_pushed","2026-10-04T03:30:32.389355775Z","os","linux","os_features","os_version","size","variant","2026-10-04T03:30:33.632125Z","last_updater","last_updater_username","media_type","latest","repository",26967596,"tag_last_pulled","2026-10-07T10:17:13.99207876Z","tag_last_pushed","tag_status","v2","sbxKitMetadata","isPotentialSpam","isHubSbxKitsEnabled","showSbxLogoOverride","sbxTrademarkText","displaySecurityMetadata","tagAttestations","tagsHaveAttestations",[],"selectedTag","attestationsUrl","routes/_layout.r.$namespace.$reponame.tags",{"_38":143,"_150":151,"_137":160,"_161":11},{"_40":144,"_42":145,"_45":46,"_47":48,"_49":11,"_50":51,"_52":53,"_54":146,"_57":35,"_32":33,"_58":59,"_60":44,"_61":62,"_63":64,"_65":66,"_67":-5,"_68":62,"_69":70,"_71":11,"_72":33,"_73":147,"_79":11,"_80":149,"_85":33,"_86":87},[],[44],[56],{"_75":11,"_76":148},[78],{"_82":21,"_83":11,"_84":11},"tags",{"_152":64,"_153":-5,"_154":-5,"_155":156},"count","next","previous","results",[157],{"_92":44,"_93":94,"_95":96,"_97":98,"_99":100,"_101":158,"_50":118,"_119":94,"_120":33,"_121":56,"_57":122,"_123":124,"_125":126,"_127":118,"_128":66,"_129":21},[159],{"_104":105,"_95":106,"_107":48,"_108":109,"_110":111,"_112":113,"_114":48,"_115":-5,"_116":98,"_63":66,"_117":-5},[],"canDeleteTags","actionData","errors"]
