The Swiss Ephemeris is a\nhigh precision ephemeris based upon the DE431 ephemeris from NASA’s JPL.\nIt covers the time range 13201 BCE to 17191 CE.\n\n## Installation\n\nYou can install the released version of swephR from\n[CRAN](https://CRAN.R-project.org) with:\n\n``` r\ninstall.packages(\"swephR\")\n```\n\nIntermediate releases can also be obtained via\n[drat](https://cran.r-project.org/package=drat):\n\n``` r\nif (!requireNamespace(\"drat\", quietly = TRUE)) install.packages(\"drat\")\ndrat::addRepo(\"rstub\")\ninstall.packages(\"swephR\")\n```\n\nThis package uses the semi-analytic theory by Steve Moshier. For faster\nand more accurate calculations, the compressed Swiss Ephemeris data is\navailable in the `swephRdata` package. To access this data package, run\n\n``` r\ninstall.packages(\"swephRdata\", repos = \"https://rstub.github.io/drat/\", type = \"source\")\n```\n\nThe size of the `swephRdata` package is approximately 115 MB. The user\ncan also use the original JPL DE431 data.\n\n## Example\n\nTo compute the position of celestial body or star with SE (Swiss\nEphemeris), you do the following steps:\n\n``` r\nlibrary(swephR)\nswe_version()\n#> [1] \"2.08\"\n```\n\nFor a specific date, compute the Julian day number (in below example:\nJ2000.0, 1 January 2000 at 12:00 UT):\n\n``` r\nyear <- 2000\nmonth <- 1\nday <- 1\nhour <- 12\njdut <- swe_julday(year, month, day, hour, SE$GREG_CAL)\njdut\n#> [1] 2451545\n```\n\nCompute (using Moshier ephemeris) the positions (longitude, latitude,\ndistance, longitude speed and latitude speed) of a planet or other\ncelestial bodies (in below example: the Sun):\n\n``` r\nipl <- SE$SUN\niflag <- SE$FLG_MOSEPH + SE$FLG_SPEED\nresult <- swe_calc_ut(jdut, ipl, iflag)\nresult\n#> $return\n#> [1] 260\n#> \n#> $xx\n#> [1] 2.803689e+02 2.323265e-04 9.833276e-01 1.019432e+00 -8.922802e-07\n#> [6] -7.339410e-06\n#> \n#> $serr\n#> [1] \"\"\n```\n\nor a fixed star (in below example: Sirius):\n\n``` r\nstarname = \"sirius\"\nresult <- swe_fixstar2_ut(starname, jdut, iflag)\nresult\n#> $return\n#> [1] 260\n#> \n#> $starname\n#> [1] \"Sirius,alCMa\"\n#> \n#> $xx\n#> [1] 1.040853e+02 -3.960507e+01 5.439322e+05 4.643164e-05 -7.119376e-05\n#> [6] -4.130539e-03\n#> \n#> $serr\n#> [1] \"\"\n```\n\nThe current R interface is modeled after the C interface. It is\ntherefore often helpful to consult the [general\ndocumentation](https://www.astro.com/swisseph/swisseph.htm) and\n[programmer’s\ndocumentation](https://www.astro.com/swisseph/swephprg.htm) for the\nSwiss Ephemeris.\n\n## Feedback\n\nAll feedback (bug reports, security issues, feature requests, …) should\nbe provided as [issues](https://github.com/rstub/swephR/issues).\n","has_starred","hub_user","immutable_tags_settings",{"_75":11,"_76":77},"enabled","rules",[78],".*","is_automated","permissions",{"_82":21,"_83":11,"_84":11},"read","write","admin","user","storage_size",758533489873,"orgData","recentTags",[91],{"_92":44,"_93":94,"_95":96,"_97":98,"_99":100,"_50":118,"_119":94,"_120":33,"_121":56,"_57":122,"_123":124,"_125":109,"_126":118,"_127":66,"_128":21},"content_type","creator",5474434,"full_size",2409603655,"id",64957136,"images",[101],{"_102":103,"_104":105,"_106":107,"_108":109,"_110":111,"_112":113,"_114":107,"_115":-5,"_116":96,"_63":66,"_117":-5},"architecture","amd64","digest","sha256:db714266d2dd07a2a163929fcbc9d82169f83e7ce3284ea8619d97cc01b479dd","features","","last_pulled","2026-09-28T03:43:23.680970263Z","last_pushed","2021-08-04T06:13:35Z","os","linux","os_features","os_version","size","variant","2021-08-04T06:13:34.289889Z","last_updater","last_updater_username","media_type","latest","repository",7532708,"tag_last_pulled","tag_last_pushed","tag_status","v2","sbxKitMetadata","isPotentialSpam","isHubSbxKitsEnabled","showSbxLogoOverride","sbxTrademarkText","displaySecurityMetadata","tagAttestations","tagsHaveAttestations",[],"selectedTag","attestationsUrl","routes/_layout.r.$namespace.$reponame.tags",{"_38":142,"_149":150,"_136":159,"_160":11},{"_40":143,"_42":144,"_45":46,"_47":48,"_49":11,"_50":51,"_52":53,"_54":145,"_57":35,"_32":33,"_58":59,"_60":44,"_61":62,"_63":64,"_65":66,"_67":-5,"_68":62,"_69":70,"_71":11,"_72":33,"_73":146,"_79":11,"_80":148,"_85":33,"_86":87},[],[44],[56],{"_75":11,"_76":147},[78],{"_82":21,"_83":11,"_84":11},"tags",{"_151":64,"_152":-5,"_153":-5,"_154":155},"count","next","previous","results",[156],{"_92":44,"_93":94,"_95":96,"_97":98,"_99":157,"_50":118,"_119":94,"_120":33,"_121":56,"_57":122,"_123":124,"_125":109,"_126":118,"_127":66,"_128":21},[158],{"_102":103,"_104":105,"_106":107,"_108":109,"_110":111,"_112":113,"_114":107,"_115":-5,"_116":96,"_63":66,"_117":-5},[],"canDeleteTags","actionData","errors"]
