Types of drawing and their distinctive features Drawing in art is an image of objects using a variety of graphic means: dots, lines, strokes, spots. There is a huge variety of its types, which differ in many criteria: execution technique. Drawings can be original or printed. The original images are printed on paper in a single copy. Printed versions (prints) are obtained by imprinting originals with clichés made of wood (engraving) or metal, stone (lithography); intended purpose. Drawings are divided into creative and academic (educational). In his creative works, the artist reflects his inner world. Subsequently, they become full-fledged masterpieces. With the help of academic drawing, future masters hone the technique of execution. They can copy the originals of famous artists or paint living and inanimate objects from nature. The complexity of tasks gradually increases in the course of the educational process, and an experienced teacher exercises full control over the quality of their performance. There is also a division into easel and auxiliary types.
Samples of easel painting are intended to be perceived by the viewer as an independent work. Ancillary sketches are used in the process of working on a large-scale painting for careful drawing of individual objects, as well as in creative search; genre and subject. There is a huge thematic and genre variety of drawings: from traditional still lifes, portraits and landscapes to images of historical, heroic, religious, mythological, fantastic, everyday, fantasy and other subjects. the nature and methods of drawing. In the process of working on a painting, the author combines two main methods of drawing: from nature and from memory.
They are harmoniously intertwined. The master tries not only to convey what he saw as authentically as possible, but also adds personal impressions. As a result, one and the same object (object) drawn by different people may look completely different in two pictures; the use of expressive means. The main visual aids for drawing artists are lines, tones, chiaroscuro and proportions. Depending on their combination, different options are obtained: from extremely simplified (clearly conveying the construction of objects) to as close as possible to completed works (the most reliable in artistic terms); the base material and the tools used. In ancient times, people painted on various materials available: papyrus, wax tablets, parchment and birch bark.
Today, paper, cardboard or canvas are most often used for these purposes. Drawing tools include pencils, charcoal, ink, sanguine, sepia, pastel, or watercolor paint.

Until the 14th century, there was no fundamental difference between drawing and painting. The artists did not use chiaroscuro and line modeling. On the Egyptian pyramids and ancient Greek vases, the schematic representation of objects and people dominates. With the beginning of the Renaissance, there was a rapid development and formation of the drawing. At this time, the foundation was laid for the theory and practice of European art. The drawing is used in easel painting of different genres by the outstanding masters of the era, Raffaello Santi and Michelangelo Buonarroti. The amazing graphic works of Leonardo da Vinci, Paolo Veronese and Tiziano Vecellio are born. Albrecht Dürer raises woodcuts to the level of true art.
