sampoon/ubuntu repository overview

This is the ubuntu system that has done many times compiling openwrt firmware. If you are new to compiling or fail to compile your firmware, you may try using this image in docker. What you need to do is follow second compiling instruction and no need to wait for long time downloading.

All necessary feeds are already inside without editing or hiding. Choose what you want and make your own firmware instead of waiting for others to compile for you.

pull image. please reserve 31G for the image. It will take around 35 minutes, which replaces your 4-hour work of first compiling from nothing.

         nohup docker pull sampoon/ubuntu:openwrt_sampoon &         # pull image at the background because this image is big

check if finish downloading image

          docker images

Create container

       docker run -dit --name ubuntu sampoon/ubuntu:openwrt_sampoon

1. after running container, do the followings:

       docker exec -it ubuntu /bin/bash           
   
       apt-get install sudo                                       
   
       sudo sh -c "apt update && apt upgrade -y"             # do it twice and it shows "0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded."
   

   Copy

2. switch to sampoon

        su sampoon
   
        cd /home/sampoon/lede
   
        git pull
        
        ./scripts/feeds update -a && ./scripts/feeds install -a      # you can run this several times to ensure everything is ok
   

   Copy

3.clean the "old things"

          rm -rf ./tmp && rm -rf .config

4. choose your favorite

           make menuconfig 

5. download necessaries

            make -j4 download V=s 

6. start compiling

           make -j$(($(nproc) + 1)) V=s

It takes around one hour to finish.

Finally, copy the file to your machine

           exit

           exit

           docker cp ubuntu:/home/sampoon/lede/bin/targets /path_to_your_file           # create a file in advance

Now you can get your openwrt in your file. Enjoy
