saxofon/wrlinux_builder repository overview

Description

Use this to build older wrlinux's in case host distribution on your machine is too new.

The docker's contain dependencies needed for wrlinux tools & projects. They do not contain wrlinux tools or projects though so you need to have that available in host, then add some " -v ::shared" parameters so that the docker can find them. I use same path in docker as in host so that all setups etc will have same path's in both worlds.

One time job to setup container

Download base image

tag 204 should be capable of building wrlinux 2.0.4 projects

docker pull wrlinux_builder:204

tag 43 should be capable of building wrlinux 4.3 projects

docker pull wrlinux_builder:43

tag 5_8 should be capable of building wrlinux 5.0.1 up to wrlinux 8 projects

docker pull wrlinux_builder:5_8

Create instance

sharing homedir and a datadir (/opt) between instance and native host

docker run -d -P --name my_builder
-v /opt:/opt:shared
-v $HOME:$HOME:shared
-it wrlinux_builder:5_8 bash

Run as root

docker exec -it my_builder bash

Create user

docker exec -it my_builder useradd --shell /bin/bash -u $(id -u) -c "" $(id -un)

Run as user

docker exec -u $(id -u):$(id -g) -it my_builder /bin/bash

if machine has been rebooted or so, start builder again

docker start my_builder

Normal day to day work

after all created good, this is perhaps the most used line...

time docker exec -u $(id -u):$(id -g) -it my_builder make -C ${HOME}/projects/proj-a all
