By using the software included in this image, you agree to the ScaleOut End-User License Agreement (EULA). This software is distributed as a Bring-Your-Own-License (BYOL) offering. The features enabled in the product are enabled by the provided license key. A temporary, single-host key can be obtained for free on our website, and a multi-host key can be obtained from the ScaleOut Sales Team.
The ScaleOut Product Suite runs as a distributed service on a cluster of physical or virtual servers and provides scalable, in-memory storage for fast-changing application data. Each container runs an instance of the service and communicates with its peers to distribute the workload, offer a unified view of the grid to clients, and maintain high availability. This enables the grid to transparently scale and maintain fast response times as the workload grows. Multiple Docker containers can be deployed on different servers to form a cluster of service instances. They can be configured for automatic discovery or to explicitly identify their peers within the cluster.
Please note that as a distributed service, multiple instances of the ScaleOut container should be run with one container per host to ensure high availability for stored data. There is no performance benefit (ScaleOut is multi-threaded) to running multiple instances of container on a single host, and this does not improve availability.
Note: To avoid requiring elevated privileges when running as a container, the ScaleOut service uses default ports of 2720-2724 instead of the standard default ports of 720-724 used in a non-containerized environment.
As a distributed service, multiple instances of the ScaleOut container should be run with one container per host to ensure high availability for stored data. To do this, from each physical host:
# docker run -d --net=host --name scaleout scaleout/soss
This image exposes container TCP ports:
These ports are exposed to the host system in the above command using the container-default ports so that multiple instances can be easily linked together across multiple Linux hosts. The ScaleOut host will inherit the host's IP address(es).
While this configuration is not supported for production use, you can create a multi-instance cluster of ScaleOut StateServer on a dev workstation for testing purposes. To do this:
docker network create scaleoutnetdocker run -d --net=scaleoutnet --name node1 scaleout/sossdocker run -d --net=scaleoutnet --name node2 scaleout/sossdocker run -d --net=scaleoutnet --name myapp <yourcontainer>This will create a network only visible to the docker containers on the local dev workstation. You can connect into the ScaleOut containers to run the management commands, for example "soss query" to view the status of the cluster.
Note: You can use Docker Compose to create the network, run the ScaleOut container(s), and your containerized application.
# docker exec <scaleout_container_name> soss set license_key=YOUR_LICENSE_KEY
Prior to setting the license key, make sure the net_interface parameter is set to a valid network subnet inside the Docker container.
For further configuration, please see the Configuration Parameters topic of the product documentation.
Today's applications need fast access to live data for maximum performance. At the same time, they need to be able to handle growing workloads, such as a web site with thousands of simultaneous users. ScaleOut's in-memory data grid (IMDG) technology combines the speed of memory-based storage with scalable, highly available clustering that enables applications to reliably store their fast-changing data. It also includes an integrated compute engine for analyzing live and streaming data to provide "operational intelligence" – the ability to identify and capture business opportunities in the moment, before they disappear.
Whether your data is in an on-premises server farm or in the cloud, the ScaleOut Software Product Suite eliminates scalability bottlenecks and maintains high availability for mission-critical applications. Powerful APIs for Java, C#, C/C++, and REST make it easy to access, query, and analyze grid-based data, and industry-leading management tools ensure fast deployment, simplified administration, and low TCO. Redis®* clients also can store and retrieve data in ScaleOut's IMDG using the standard Redis commands and the RESP protocol.

Open-Source Redis Database Integrated with ScaleOut's Industry-Leading Clustering Technology
ScaleOut Software introduces a breakthrough new execution platform for Redis applications that integrates open-source Redis code into ScaleOut’s industry-leading, patented clustering architecture. ScaleOut In-Memory Database enables enterprise Redis users to now benefit from automated cluster management and fully consistent data storage that dramatically lower total cost of ownership (TCO). ScaleOut uses fully multi-threaded execution for Redis commands to take advantage of all processing cors.
ScaleOut In-Memory Database use of open-source Redis code delivers native behavior and performance for all popular Redis data structures (including strings, lists, sets, hashes, sorted sets, streams, hyperloglog, and geospatial), transactions, and pubsub.

Perform Stateful Stream Processing for Deep Introspection
ScaleOut StreamServer combines a scalable, stream-processing compute engine with an integrated, in-memory data grid into a powerful, unified software platform for stateful stream processing. Time windowing libraries, integration with Kafka connectors and producers to enable seamless connectivity to Kafka messaging pipelines, and support for ReactiveX APIs all allow for fast, straightforward event processing using familiar programming APIs. Now you can perform lightning-fast event analysis using sophisticated in-memory state tracking with "digital twin" models to provide deep introspection and precise real-time feedback. Analyze Your Live Data for Operational Intelligence
ScaleOut StateServer Pro combines distributed, in-memory storage with a scalable compute engine to enable blazingly fast, data-parallel computation on live, fast-changing data. This gives you "operational intelligence" – the ability to analyze data in real time and provide immediate insights and feedback within live, operational systems. Now you can capture perishable business opportunities in your live data as they happen. For more information, please visit: www.scaleoutsoftware.com/products/stateserver-pro.
