scorpiox/scorpiomediaserver repository overview

Scorpio Media Server

Scorpio Media Server is a cross-platform media server that allows you to stream your media files to any device. You can use Scorpio Media Server to organize your media library, transcode videos on the fly, and access your files remotely.

How to use Scorpio Media Server with Docker

Docker is an open platform for developing, shipping, and running applications. Docker enables you to separate your applications from your infrastructure so you can deliver software quickly. With Docker, you can run Scorpio Media Server as a container that contains everything needed to run the application.

To use Scorpio Media Server with Docker, you need to have Docker installed on your machine. You can follow the official Docker documentation to get started with Docker.

Once you have Docker installed, you can pull the Scorpio Media Server image from Docker Hub using the following command:

docker pull scorpiox/scorpiomediaserver

This will download the latest version of Scorpio Media Server image to your local machine.

To run Scorpio Media Server as a container, you need to specify some environment variables and expose a port. The environment variables are:

SCORPIOX_CONFIG_FOLDER: The path to the folder where Scorpio Media Server stores its configuration files. You can use a volume to mount this folder from your host machine.

SCORPIOX_TCPIPBasePath: The base path for accessing Scorpio Media Server via TCP/IP protocol. For example, if you set this to /media, you can access Scorpio Media Server via Scorpio Player

SCORPIOX_TCPIPPort: The port number for accessing Scorpio Media Server via TCP/IP protocol. The default value is 3320.

SCORPIOX_TCPIPIP: The IP address for accessing Scorpio Media Server via TCP/IP protocol. The default value is 0.0.0.0, which means Scorpio Media Server will listen on all interfaces.

SCORPIOX_HTTPBasePath: The base path for accessing Scorpio Media Server via HTTP protocol. For example, if you set this to /media, you can access Scorpio Media Server via Scorpio Player

SCORPIOX_HTTPPort: The port number for accessing Scorpio Media Server via HTTP protocol. The default value is 3321.

SCORPIOX_HTTPIP: The IP address for accessing Scorpio Media Server via HTTP protocol. The default value is 0.0.0.0, which means Scorpio Media Server will listen on all interfaces.

The port that needs to be exposed is:

3320: The port for accessing Scorpio Media Server via TCP/IP protocol. You can use the following command to run Scorpio Media Server as a container:

docker run -d \
  -e SCORPIOX_CONFIG_FOLDER=/config \
  -e SCORPIOX_TCPIPBasePath=/media \
  -e SCORPIOX_TCPIPPort=3320 \
  -e SCORPIOX_TCPIPIP=0.0.0.0 \
  -e SCORPIOX_HTTPBasePath=/media \
  -e SCORPIOX_HTTPPort=3321 \
  -e SCORPIOX_HTTPIP=0.0.0.0 \
  -p 3320:3320 \
  -p 3321:3321 \
  -v /path/to/config:/config \
  -v /path/to/media:/media \
  --name scorpiomediaserver \
  scorpiox/scorpiomediaserver

one line command

docker run -d -e SCORPIOX_CONFIG_FOLDER=/config -e SCORPIOX_TCPIPBasePath=/media -e SCORPIOX_TCPIPPort=3320 -e SCORPIOX_TCPIPIP=0.0.0.0 -e SCORPIOX_HTTPBasePath=/media -e SCORPIOX_HTTPPort=3321 -e SCORPIOX_HTTPIP=0.0.0.0 -p 3320:3320 -p 3321:3321 -v /path/to/config:/config -v /path/to/media:/media --name scorpiomediaserver scorpiox/scorpiomediaserver

real world example for docker in windows:

docker run -d -e SCORPIOX_CONFIG_FOLDER=/config -e SCORPIOX_TCPIPBasePath=/media -e SCORPIOX_TCPIPPort=3320 -e SCORPIOX_TCPIPIP=0.0.0.0 -e SCORPIOX_HTTPBasePath=/media -e SCORPIOX_HTTPPort=3321 -e SCORPIOX_HTTPIP=0.0.0.0 -p 3320:3320 -p 3321:3321 -v E:\scorpiomediaserver\config:/config -v E:\scorpiomediaserver\media:/media --name scorpiomediaserver scorpiox/scorpiomediaserver

This will run Scorpio Media Server in the background and name it as scorpiomediaserver. You can replace /path/to/config and /path/to/media with the actual paths on your host machine where you want to store the configuration files and the media files respectively.

want to attach more folders for HTTP mode, for example?

  -e SCORPIOX_HTTPPaths_folder1=/media1 \
  -e SCORPIOX_HTTPPaths_folder2=/media2 \
  -e SCORPIOX_HTTPPaths_folder3=/media3 \

example in docker in windows
