securityresearchlabs/kernel-patchalyzer repository overview

Kernel Patchalyzer is a tool to test the patch status of any Linux kernel.

Installation

To run Kernel Patchalyzer, you can pull the docker image that contains the analysis logic.

docker pull securityresearchlabs/kernel-patchalyzer:latest

Usage

Here is how to use it:

  • Download and extract a Linux source code tree to test
  • Go to the directory above the source tree and run the following command (adjusting paths as needed):
docker run --rm -v `pwd`:`pwd` kernel-patchalyzer:latest --root `pwd`/example-path-to-kernel --name name-of-kernel --arch X86_64 --output-dir `pwd`

Please note that the output directory must be within the pwd directory specified by the -v parameter.

The tool produces two outputs: one json and one xlsx file with the analysis results, all stored in the directory specified by --output-dir.
