⁠🏥 Hospital Management System – Dockerized (MERN)

A 3-tier Hospital Management System (React, Node.js/Express, MongoDB), containerized with Docker and deployed on AWS EC2 using Docker Compose.

⁠🏗️ Architecture

Browser → Frontend (Nginx, port 3000)
              ↓
          Backend (Express, port 5000)
              ↓
          MongoDB (27017, internal only)
              ↓
          Volume: mongo-data

All containers run on the custom network hospital-net.

• Multi-stage builds with Alpine-based images
• Backend runs as a non-root user
• MongoDB is not exposed publicly
• Data persists using a named volume
• Auto-restart with restart: unless-stopped

⁠🚀 How to Run (Docker Compose)

git clone https://github.com/sharadverma638/hospital-management-system-docker.git

cd hospital-management-system-docker

docker-compose up -d --build

docker exec -it hospital-backend node createAdmin.js

Open: http://<your-server-ip>:3000

Environment variable

MONGO_URI=mongodb://mongo:27017/hospital

⁠⚠️ Note

The server IP is set inside the frontend at build time. On your own server, rebuild the frontend using update-ip.sh from the GitHub repo.
