The "shujanx/mssql" Docker repository provides a convenient way to run Microsoft SQL Server on both Mac OS and Windows environments. It allows you to quickly set up and deploy SQL Server instances within Docker containers, enabling efficient development, testing, and deployment of database-driven applications.
The image is designed to work seamlessly on both Mac OS and Windows systems, eliminating the need for separate installation procedures or configurations.
With "shujanx/mssql," you can effortlessly create SQL Server instances by running a single Docker command, saving time and reducing setup complexities.
The repository supports various versions of Microsoft SQL Server, giving you the flexibility to choose the one that best suits your application's requirements.
It provides an interface to configure important parameters such as port mapping, volume mounting, and environment variables, allowing you to adapt the SQL Server container to your specific needs.
To start using "shujanx/mssql," follow these steps:
Install Docker on your machine if you haven't already. Refer to the Docker documentation for the appropriate installation steps for your operating system.
Pull the "shujanx/mssql" image from Docker Hub:
docker pull shujanx/mssql
Run a container using the pulled image, specifying the desired SQL Server version, port mapping, and any other required environment variables:
docker run -e ACCEPT_EULA=Y -e Your_Strong_Password -p 1433:1433 -d shujanx/mssql
( Your_Strong_Password ) is the database system administrator (userid = 'sa') password used to connect to SQL Server once the container is running. Important note: This password needs to include at least 8 characters of at least three of these four categories: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and non-alphanumeric symbols.
` Make sure to replace your_strong_password with a secure password of your choice. `
Once the container is running, you can connect to the SQL Server instance using your preferred database management tool, such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) or Azure Data Studio.
Access the SQL Server instance using the following connection details:
Server: localhost (or the IP address of your Docker host)
Authentication: SQL Authentication or Windows Authentication
Username: SA
Password: your_strong_password
In place of password you use the password which you have given
You're now ready to start working with Microsoft SQL Server on your Mac OS or Windows machine!
