  2. Press enter
  3. Type LOGON HERC01/CUL8TR and press enter (HERC01 is user, CUL8TR is password)
  4. When *** is displayed press enter
  5. Explore the menus. Press F3 to go back to previous screen or exit menu system.
  6. To logoff, you can enter LOGOFF then Ctrl+] and type quit at the c3270 prompt

Clean shutdown

  1. docker exec -it mvs38j c3270 localhost:3270
  2. Type LOGON HERC01/CUL8TR and press enter
  3. When *** is displayed press enter
  4. At menu type X and press enter
  5. Type SHUTDOWN and press enter
  6. LOGOFF
  7. Ctrl+] then enter quit
  8. You can do docker logs -f mvs38j to watch the shutdown messages

Some commands to try

  • LISTCAT to show your datasets
  • HELP LISTCAT gives help on LISTCAT command (F3 to quit help). Inside help viewer, type + then enter to advance to next page and likewise - to go back to previous page.
  • HELP lists standard TSO commands (note some are not installed, e.g. CALC, mainly due to copyright restrictions) and HELP UTILS lists additional commands that come with TK4-

Problems

  • Attempt to logon as HERC01 fails with IKJ56425I LOGON REJECTED, USERID HERC01 IN USE. Unlike Unix-like systems, TSO disallows concurrent login sessions for same user. To resolve this, you need to kill HERC01's session, which you can do by going to http://localhost:8038 and enter the console command /C U=HERC01. (Another method is to login as HERC02, with same password, enter option 3 and press enter, type OT and press enter, and then type /C U=HERC01 and press enter.)
  • Stuck at prompt REENTER+ - Ctrl+] then enter command pa 1. (This is the equivalent of pressing the PA1 key on a physical 3270 keyboard, which cancels the current command, like Ctrl+C on DOS/Windows/Unix.)
