⁠NodeJS 20 with Yarn Classic packed by Sourcemation

Node.js is a powerful and adaptable JavaScript runtime that's used to build all sorts of applications, from simple command-line tools to complex conferencing systems. Its popularity comes from its vast collection of modules and widespread use.

⁠Important Note: NodeJS 20 is End-of-Life (EOL)

This NodeJS distribution, version 20.X, is provided specifically for compatibility workflows that require an older NodeJS environment. NodeJS 20 is no longer officially supported by the OpenJS Foundation and does not receive security updates.

While the NodeJS 20 environment itself is outdated, this Sourcemation image is built on our regularly updated and patched sourcemation/debian-13-slim base image. This ensures that the underlying system components are current, even though the NodeJS version itself is EOL.

This particular version of Node.js includes Node.js version 20 and Yarn Classic (version 1.22.XX).

This image is optimized for build reproducibility and contains the packages needed to compile NodeJS, providing developers with all tools needed in more advanced NodeJS development - thus it's not a super small image.

⁠Usage

Run a temporary container with the NodeJS REPL (don't forget the -it flags).

docker run --rm -it sourcemation/nodejs-20:latest

⁠Advanced usage examples

Serve the contents of the current directory with your NodeJS project using npm.

docker run --rm -p 3000:3000 -v "${PWD}:/your-project" -w "/your-project" -it sourcemation/nodejs-20:latest npm run start

Serve the contents of the current directory with your NodeJS project using yarn.

docker run --rm -p 3000:3000 -v "${PWD}:/your-project" -w "/your-project" -it sourcemation/nodejs-20:latest yarn start

This image uses the following environment variables:

NODEJS_VERSION=20.YY.ZZ
YARN_VERSION=1.22.XX
