This image is based on the official Nginx image and host a sample coming-soon page. The sample coming-soon page is at /usr/share/nginx/html/.
To run this image by exposing the http (80) port:
docker run -d -p 80:80 speedyrails/coming-soon
Then you can hit http://localhost or http://host-ip in your browser.
You can pass the NGINX_PORT environment variable to the container to set the running port for Nginx, e.g:
docker run -e "NGINX_PORT=3000" -p 80:3000 speedyrails/coming-soon:latest
This can be useful in the Amazon ECS task definitions, so you can expose the right container port in the task definition and set this image as a demo until your real application is deployed.
Another environment variable is available NGINX_HEALTH_CHECK_URI (available in the 1.1 tag), which defines a location for health checks. To change the default health check URI to /api/status:
docker run -e "NGINX_HEALTH_CHECK_URI=/api/status" -p 80:3000 speedyrails/coming-soon:latest
