/var/lib/mysql/.db_root_passfile
To change root password log in using old password and execute the following commands:
ALTER USER 'root'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'MY_NEW_PASSWORD';
ALTER USER 'root'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY 'MY_NEW_PASSWORD';
