⁠Description

Although python-ldap is buildable from source on linux systems, some options, such as TLS 1.3 are only available when building against OpenLDAP verisons > 2.5.

⁠Building

Dockerfile to build the images yourself:

FROM alpine:3.19 # this will result in python 3.11, use other alpine versions such as 3.15 to get python 3.9
RUN apk add --no-cache python3 python3-dev py3-pip build-base

RUN apk add --no-cache openldap-dev

RUN python3 -m venv /opt/venv

RUN source /opt/venv/bin/activate && \
    pip install python-ldap && \
    python -c "import ldap; assert hasattr(ldap, 'OPT_X_TLS_PROTOCOL_TLS1_3')" && \
    pip uninstall -y python-ldap
