This is a dockerized version of the Pagila sample database, built on the official PostgreSQL Docker image.
To run the standard Pagila, use:
docker run -e POSTGRES_PASSWORD=postgres -p 5432:5432 synthesizedio/pagila
To run Pagila without data (schema only), use:
docker run -e POSTGRES_PASSWORD=postgres -p 5432:5432 synthesizedio/pagila:1.2-schema-only
To run Pagila with a huge amount of data (generated by Synthesized TDK), use:
docker run -e POSTGRES_PASSWORD=postgres -p 5432:5432 synthesizedio/pagila:1.2-big
In the MySQL realm, the Sakila sample database is a practice database that comes with MySQL. Designed to provide a standard schema, data, and examples of typical MySQL queries, it is widely used for learning SQL programming and testing database software.
Pagila, on the other hand, is a version of Sakila adapted for PostgreSQL databases. While it maintains the original concept and database structure, it incorporates PostgreSQL-specific features like partitioned tables, full text search, and JSON columns.
Here's a Docker image with pre-installed Pagila to simplify the process of deploying and using the sample database.
