t0mmili/jenkins-inbound-agent-docker repository overview

Jenkins Inbound Agent Docker

A minimal, production-ready Jenkins agent image that enables Docker builds inside Jenkins pipelines without the need for a separate build container.

Built on top of the official jenkins/inbound-agent:alpine, it keeps the footprint small while adding essential tooling for modern container workflows.

Included Components

  • Jenkins Inbound Agent (Alpine-based)
  • Docker CLI
  • Docker Buildx (multi-platform builds support)
  • Common utilities:
    • curl
    • bash
    • git
    • libcurl

Use Cases

  • Building Docker images in Jenkins pipelines
  • Multi-platform builds using Buildx
  • CI/CD pipelines requiring Docker CLI access
  • Integration with:
    • Docker Hub
    • GitHub Container Registry (GHCR)
    • Private registries

Quick Start

Run Jenkins agent with access to host Docker daemon:

docker run -d \
  -v /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock \
  t0mmili/jenkins-inbound-agent-docker

Security Notes

  • Runs as jenkins user by default
  • Requires access to Docker socket (/var/run/docker.sock) for Docker operations
  • Ensure proper permissions and security controls when exposing Docker daemon
