⁠timegen

Simple image that genrates date and time in a given time zone and saves the output to a file named "index.html" in a given path, intended to be used for educational purposes.

⁠Usage:

  1. Default with no arguments:
$ docker container run -d --name container-name tabpad/timegen:latest
# Generates date and time in UTC and saves to default path /usr/share/nginx/html/index.html
  1. Specifying time zone but no path
$ docker container run -d --name NewYork tabpad/timegen:latest EST
$ docker container run -d --name NewYork tabpad/timegen:latest America/New_York
# Generates date and time in Eastern Standard Time and saves to default path /usr/share/nginx/html/index.html
  1. Specifying time zone and path to index.html
$ docker container run -d --name NewYork tabpad/timegen:latest EST /path/html
$ docker container run -d --name NewYork tabpad/timegen:latest EST /path/html/
# Generates date and time in Eastern Standard Time and saves to /path/html/index.html

⁠Notes:

  • File name - index.html - cannot be overridden using arguments.
  • Use absolute path for your path otherwise your path will be relative to /app directory.
