What is TagoCore?

TagoCore is a free, fast, and open-source IoT platform for edge computing built using Node.js. The image is about 150 MB in size and supports multiple platforms and architectures. You can view the open-source repository here.

How to use this image

Usage

Use like you would any other base image:

FROM tagoio/tagocore

Or run directly:

docker run -p 8888:8888 -p 8999:8999 tagoio/tagocore

NOTE: this will run TagoCore without any persistent storage. if you plan to run TagoCore continually we recommend establishing a way to keep the application data outside of the docker container.

Environment variables

TagoCore accepts some environment variables that can be overridden in your own Dockerfile.

  • TCORE_CLUSTER_TOKEN: Cluster token for TagoCore
  • TCORE_DATABASE_PLUGIN: Database Plugin ID and Module ID in this structure: PLUGIN_ID:MODULE_ID
  • TCORE_PLUGINS_FOLDER: Plugins folder (defaults to /var/lib/tagocore/data/Plugins)
  • TCORE_PORT: Server port (default is 8888)
  • TCORE_DIRPATH: Settings folder (defaults to /var/lib/tagocore/data)

Image Variants

The tagocore images come in many flavors, each designed for a specific use case.

tagoio/tagocore:<version>

This is the main image. If you are unsure about what your needs are, you probably want to use this one.

tagoio/tagocore:alpine

This image is based on the popular Alpine Linux project, available in the alpine official image. Alpine Linux is much smaller than most distribution base images (~5MB), and thus leads to much slimmer images in general.

This variant is highly recommended when final image size being as small as possible is desired. The main caveat to note is that it does use musl libc instead of glibc and friends.

tagoio/tagocore:bullseye

This image is based on version 11 of Debian, available in the debian official image.

License

View license information for the software contained in this image.

As with all Docker images, these likely also contain other software which may be under other licenses (such as Bash, etc from the base distribution, along with any direct or indirect dependencies of the primary software being contained).

As for any pre-built image usage, it is the image user's responsibility to ensure that any use of this image complies with any relevant licenses for all software contained within.
