tamaramueller/iotimage repository overview

Docker containing IoT2000 image

The docker container is based on the descriptions at https://github.com/siemens/meta-iot2000

Approach:

Running docker container interactively:

docker run -v $(pwd):/shared-volume:rw -e USER_ID=$(id -u) -t -i kasproject/kas:latest

Now you're inside the docker container. You should see that the prompt has changed to builder@dockerID. Switch to the shared volume folder:

cd /shared-volume

Clone the git repository of Siemens with the required files to build the yocto image for IoT2000:

git clone https://github.com/siemens/meta-iot2000

use kas to build the yocto image (this is likely to take about 2 hours, depending on your machine)

kas build meta-iot2000/meta-iot2000-example/kas.yml

Afterwards you are inside the docker container.

Troubleshooting

  • On the original GitHub page the command is slightly different:
docker run -v $(pwd):/shared-volume:rw -e USER_ID=$(id -u) -t -i --storage-opt size=50G kasproject/kas:latest

Adding the parameter --storage-opt size=50G threw an error. It is only possible to add this parameter if Docker uses the correct file system for both the storage driver(overlay2) and the backing filesystem (xfs) with 'pquota'. You can find a tutorial for changing the storage driver to overlay2 here. But the command also worked without the --storage-opt parameter.
