Fork of Distribution with an optional admin endpoint to delete empty repositories, designed to work with the Registry Explorer web UI.

⁠What it is

An OCI Distribution–compatible registry with one extra feature:

• DELETE /v2/{name}/_admin/cleanup: removes a repository directory when it is logically empty (no tags and no manifests).

Guards:

• storage.delete.enabled=true
• not a cache (pull-through), not read-only
• requires DELETE permission on the repository

Responses: 202 (deleted), 409 (not empty), 404 (not found), 401/403 (auth), 405/501 (unsupported).

⁠Run

docker run --rm -p 5000:5000 \
  -v $(pwd)/cmd/registry/config-dev.yml:/etc/distribution/config.yml \

Enable deletion:

storage:

Test the endpoint:

⁠Notes

• This endpoint is not part of the official Docker Registry HTTP API V2 and is intended for administrative use.
• Use registry garbage-collect to remove unreferenced blobs.
