tben77/dsql repository overview

About dsql

Dsql is a replica of datasquirel.com which is self hosted. It is a mixture of a Mariadb database, a static file server, a web admin interface, and an API to securely access your resources from anywhere in the world.

How to use

docker run --name dsql -p 7070:7070 -p 7071:7071 -d dsql

The web admin runs on port 7070, and the static server port is on 7071.

After starting the container give it a few seconds to run the first setup, then access the web admin at http://localhost:7070.

To login run in your terminal:

docker exec dsql cat /app/site/.env | grep "WEB_LOGIN"

This will list the username and password needed to login.

Volumes

There are some critical volumes that should be created for persistence of data:

  • /app/static => This is where public static assets are stored
  • /var/lib/mysql => All Mariadb databases and configurations are stored here
  • /app/site/jsonData/dbSchemas/users => Users Confidential files are stored here. Very important
  • /app/site/.env => Environment Variables. Very important to keep this file stored and safe.

Optionally you could include:

  • /etc/nginx/conf.d => Nginx configuration for the static file server(and other nginx custom configurations).
  • /ssl => SSL certificate credentials

Updating the web application

To update the web admin you must first delete a file in the container that prevents rebuilding on restarting the container. To do this simply run:

docker exec dsql rm -f /app/site/FIRST_BUILD

After running this you can now restart your docker container by running:

docker restart dsql

This will update and rebuild the container
