DBcloudbin (database downsizing to cloud object storage) agent container
336
DBcloudbin (https://www.dbcloudbin.com) is a data management optimization solution for large databases (Oracle, SQL Server as of today). It enables offloading data to efficient and cheap object storage (Cloud or on-premises) without any application change nor re-Engineering. It uses an data virtualization technique, so that the application can remain accessing data through SQL queries and DBcloudbin is in charge of fetching the offloaded data and injecting it into the final query results.
The running components that make up a DBcloudbin installation are mainly two:
IMPORTANT! This will not avoid the usage of DBcloudbin setup to configure the Database layer and adaptation of your application schema using the regular DBcloudbin install tool (you can request a FREE trial here). However you can install only the first two packages running the setup from any server or laptop with access to your database, and leave the agent and CLI running as Docker containers.
The dbcloudbin-agent image can be customized through the following environment variables:
In addition, the internal 8090 port must be exposed to allow database originated connections. Sample command:
docker run --rm -d --name dbcloudbin-agent -p8090:8090 -e DB_HOST=mydbhost -e DB_PORT=1521 -e DB_SERVICE=ORCLPDB -e DB_PASSWORD="myverysecret-password" tecknolab/dbcloudbin-agent:3.04.02
Once launched, check the logs for a correct startup and use the command line interface (CLI) image (https://hub.docker.com/repository/docker/tecknolab/dbcloudbin-cli) for testing the setup.
