⁠Tempest Server — Open Source Edition

Self-host the sync backend for Tempest⁠, the cross-platform SSH, SFTP, RDP, VNC, Kubernetes and serial client.

Run this image and your host list, keys and snippets sync through infrastructure you own. Your vault stays end-to-end encrypted either way — self-hosting means you are the operator of the relay, with no third-party data residency question to answer.

It also enables Web Mode: the full Tempest UI in a browser, so you can reach a box from an iPad, a Chromebook or a locked-down laptop with nothing installed.

This image needs Postgres, Redis, CouchDB and an S3-compatible store alongside it, plus a few one-time setup steps. The guide above is a complete, tested stack — copy the Compose file, run two scripts, work through the verification checklist. Start there rather than from docker run.

• End-to-end encrypted personal vault sync — hosts, keys, snippets, settings
• Accounts, sign-in, and a full OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect provider with device grant, which is how the desktop, mobile and CLI clients sign in
• The Console web UI, Web Mode, SSH multiplexing
• Scheduled snippet runs
• Instance administration and a background-job dashboard

Shared vaults, single sign-on, two-factor authentication, relays, session recordings, real-time collaboration and the AI assistant are Enterprise Edition⁠.

Tags — latest, plus one per build commit. linux/amd64.

Process types — /cnb/process/web (the app) and /cnb/process/worker (background jobs). Run both. Use --entrypoint launcher for one-off commands such as bin/rails db:migrate.

Requires — PostgreSQL 14+, Redis 7+, CouchDB 3.x, an S3-compatible bucket.
