Backup Restore Container

A lightweight container for restoring QFnetwork node blockchain data from UpCloud object storage using rclone.

Overview

This container automatically downloads and restores blockchain data when local database size is below a configurable threshold, supporting both pruned (36k blocks) RocksDB and ParityDB formats.

Usage

Pull the image from Docker Hub:

docker pull theqfnetwork/backup_restore:latest

Run the container with a volume mounted at /data where the blockchain data will be restored:

docker run --rm -v /path/to/data:/data -e DB_TYPE=paritydb theqfnetwork/backup_restore:latest
  • DB_TYPE: Database type to restore, either rocksdb (default) or paritydb.
  • BUCKET: Optional override for the custom rclone bucket path.

Default Buckets

  • RocksDB: upcloud_private:qfn-testnet-pruned-rocksdb
  • ParityDB: upcloud_private:qfn-testnet-pruned-paritydb

Configuration

  • Restore only happens if local data size is less than half the remote size (default).
  • Parallel transfer count is set to 30 by default and can be adjusted with RCLONE_TRANSFER_COUNT.

Data Paths

  • ParityDB data restored to /data/chains/qf_testnet/paritydb/full
  • RocksDB data restored to /data/chains/qf_testnet/db/full

Requirements

  • Docker or Podman installed.
  • Sufficient volume storage for full blockchain data.
