⁠DevShell: Lightweight Development Environment

DevShell is a versatile and lightweight Docker-based development environment designed to boost productivity. It provides two flavors:

• DevShell (Full): A full-featured environment with Zsh, Oh My Zsh, plugins, and additional tools for development.
• DevShell Nano: A minimal version focused on file editing with Nano, including syntax highlighting.

Built on Alpine Linux, both images are optimized for small size and fast performance, making them perfect for developers who need portable, ready-to-use environments.

• Zsh with Oh My Zsh:
  • Plugins: zsh-autosuggestions and zsh-syntax-highlighting.

  • tmux for session management.

⁠Quick Start

⁠Full Version (latest)

Run a Zsh-powered interactive development shell:

docker run -it --rm thilina01/devshell:latest

⁠Nano Version (nano)

Run the lightweight Nano-specific environment:

docker run -it --rm thilina01/devshell:nano

⁠With Mounted Volume

Edit a file directly in the Nano environment:

docker run --rm -it -v <volume_name>:/data thilina01/devshell:nano sh -c "nano /data/<file_name>"

Start a full development shell with a mounted volume:

docker run --rm -it -v <volume_name>:/data thilina01/devshell:latest
