A lightweight PDF security service built with Java and React. It allows users to password-protect PDF documents and remove password protection from encrypted PDFs when the correct password is provided.

When deployed locally, the application is a great privacy-friendly alternative to online PDF services — all encryption and decryption happens on your machine, so sensitive PDF files are never uploaded to any external server.

Packaged as a ready-to-run Docker image for quick and easy deployment.

⁠Usage

docker pull tjunyszek/pdf-cypher:latest
docker run -p 8080:8080 -d tjunyszek/pdf-cypher

⁠Docker Compose

Create compose.yaml file with below content

version: "3.8"

services:
  pdf-cypher:
    image: tjunyszek/pdf-cypher:latest
    ports:
      - "8080:8080"
    restart: unless-stopped

Run

docker compose pull
docker compose up -d

Now simply visit http://localhost:8080/ in your web-browser
