This repository hosts Dockerized instances of Cisco's virtualized Network Operating Systems. By wrapping the QEMU-based vIOS virtual machine into a Docker container, it allows for high-scale, automated network prototyping.

Containerlab Integration To use these images in your clab topology, use the vr-cisco_vios kind. Containerlab handles the networking and console requirements automatically for this kind.

Available Image Variants Depending on the tag you pull, the image functions as either a Layer 3 Router or a Layer 2 Switch:

Tag without L2: Layer 3 with L2: Layer 2

Technical Details Management Interface: eth0 is the dedicated management port (mapped to the container network).

Data Interfaces: eth1 and above map to GigabitEthernet0/0, 0/1, etc.

Credentials: Default login is admin / admin.

Resource Requirements: * vIOS (L3): ~512MB RAM

vIOS-L2: ~768MB RAM

Accessing the Node Once deployed, you can access the Cisco CLI via SSH or directly through the container:

SSH: ssh admin@

Console: docker exec -it screen /viosl1

Note: This repository contains only the vrnetlab wrapper code and orchestration logic. Users must ensure they have the appropriate Cisco licenses to run vIOS software.
