Ubuntu Server with useful userland, for quick dev work
226
This is not a traditional slim Docker container. It's a proper Ubuntu Server, running /sbin/init, SSH, etc. and configured with my preferred zsh shell setup.
It needs some command-line settings to get it to work, at least on my Mac, so they're in a Makefile in the source repo.
To run:
git clone https://github.com/tomgidden/ubuntu-server.gitGNUmakefile so you're happy with it.make copy_ssh # Copies ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub to the contained user's authorized_keysmake runmake ssh or make shellmake cleanUsername: me
Password: the.dog.ate.my.homework
make ssh seems to work better for me than make shell; it acts more like a normal server, whereas make shell seems to do weird things with the terminal, like restricting to 80x24.
