⁠Tribalnova local DynamoDB image

tribalnova/dynamodb⁠

A local dynamoDB⁠ image, for development. It allows to simulate a dynamoDB database locally.

The databases are saved in /opt/dynamodb. Share this volume to make them persist.

⁠Options

This container runs by default with the options -sharedDb and -delayTransientStatuses. To use different options, specify them as the docker run command.

-sharedDb creates a single database named shared-local-instance.db rather than one per AWS access key and AWS region. If this option isn't set, when using the GUI, the AWS access key has to be configured.

-delayTransientStatuses adds a delay on some operations to simulate a closer behavior to the actual DynamoDB one.

⁠GUI

When the container is running, a web GUI is available at http://localhost:8000/shell⁠. It provides a browser console to run Javascript commands against the database. For instance, the following command displays all the database tables:

dynamodb.listTables({}, function(err, data) {
    if (err) ppJson(err);
    else ppJson(data);
});

If the is option sharedDb isn't set, the AWS access key has to be configured to perform queries on the right database.
